About Mikayla
Coming to counseling can be extremely scary. It’s hard to be vulnerable with a new person, not knowing how they’ll react to what you tell them. As a counselor, my role is to meet you right where you’re at, take your hand, and walk with you at your own pace out of the gutter. I am passionate for holistic, mindfulness mental health counseling for teens, couples, and adults in areas including trauma, domestic violence and sexual assault victims and survivors, grief, anxiety, depression, codependency issues, self-esteem, identity formation, self-harming behaviors, relationship issues, parenting issues, and reclaiming control of life.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) that we can use for trauma, anxiety, phobias, & future events; Sandtray therapy, using sand and figures as a more non-verbal modality that can help access the subconscious and facilitate a deeper level of processing; and Gottman methods to help couples facilitate open, healthy communication.I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable expressing yourself freely. I offer a judgment free zone to release all emotions and thoughts. I aim to help you discover, explore, & find relief from your mistaken beliefs, core fears, shame, and learned behaviors that no longer have benefit, and to develop courage to face what's in front of you.
