Is EMDR Right for You?
EMDR may be helpful if you are experiencing:
✓ Flashbacks or distressing memories
✓ Anxiety or panic attacks
✓ PTSD or symptoms related to trauma
✓ Phobias or intense fears
✓ Nightmares or disrupted sleep
✓ Feeling constantly on edge (hypervigilance)
✓ Feeling emotionally stuck
✓ Negative beliefs about yourself
✓ Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe
✓ Childhood trauma or difficult life experiences
✓ Abuse, assault, or other traumatic events
✓ Grief and traumatic loss
✓ Anxiety about future events or important life experiences
You don't have to have PTSD or experience a single major traumatic event to benefit from EMDR. Many people use EMDR to process painful life experiences, reduce anxiety, overcome phobias, and prepare for future situations with greater confidence.

What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain process distressing memories, reduce emotional distress, and develop healthier beliefs about yourself and your experiences.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn't require you to tell your story over and over. Instead, your therapist guides you through a structured process using bilateral stimulation (often handheld tappers) while helping you process memories, difficult emotions, or future situations that continue to feel overwhelming.
Many people describe EMDR as helping a memory feel less emotionally charged, as though it finally belongs in the past instead of continuing to intrude on the present.
How does EMDR Work?
Identify
Together, we'll identify the memory, fear, negative belief, or future situation you'd like to work through. Before beginning EMDR, we'll make sure you have coping skills and feel prepared for the process.
Reprocess
Using bilateral stimulation—often handheld tappers—we'll help your brain reprocess the experience while you remain grounded and fully aware. The goal isn't to erase the memory, but to reduce the emotional distress it carries. You can watch a video here.
Move Forward
As the memory becomes less emotionally overwhelming, many people begin to experience greater peace, healthier beliefs about themselves, and increased confidence in everyday life. Healing doesn't mean forgetting what happened—it means no longer feeling controlled by it.
What Does EMDR Feel Like?
One of the most common questions we hear is, "What does EMDR actually feel like?"
Everyone's experience is different, but many clients describe it as feeling like they're finally able to process something that has felt "stuck" for years. The memory doesn't disappear - instead, it often feels less emotionally overwhelming and more like something that happened in the past rather than something they're still reliving today.
Healing Is Possible
Trauma has a way of convincing us that we'll always feel this way—that we'll always be anxious, always on guard, always carrying the weight of what happened. But healing is possible.
Healing doesn't mean forgetting your story or pretending it never happened. It means no longer feeling trapped by it. It means discovering that what happened to you doesn't have to define who you are or where your life goes from here.
Whether you're struggling with trauma, anxiety, grief, distressing memories, or simply feeling stuck, you don't have to navigate it alone. Our team is here to walk alongside you with compassion, evidence-based care, and hope for what's ahead.
When you're ready, we'll help you take the next step.
You Are Always in Control
One of the biggest misconceptions about EMDR is that clients lose control during the process. In reality, the opposite is true.
Throughout EMDR, you remain in the driver's seat. Together, we'll move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. You can ask questions, take breaks, slow down, or stop at any point. There is never any pressure to process something you're not ready to face.
Healing isn't about pushing through trauma—it's about creating enough safety to process it. Our role is to guide and support you while honoring your pace, your story, and your goals every step of the way.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. EMDR is simply one of many evidence-based therapies we use, and together we'll determine what feels most helpful for you.
